Irwin County Health Department will hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Saturday, April 24 from 9:00 AM to noon at the Chamber of Commerce’s Satur-Yay! Event at Cumbee Park. During this clinic Moderna vaccine will be administered to participants.
“Appointments are encouraged for this vaccination clinic,” says Michelle Stone, RN, county nurse manager. “We will try our best to accommodate walk-ups at this COVID-19 vaccination clinic; however, to guarantee your vaccination call to schedule your appointment.”
To schedule an appointment for the clinic, call the Irwin County Health Department at 229-238-9540. Individuals will be vaccinated under the shelter at Cumbee Park. This is not a drive-thru event. Moderna vaccine requires two doses; therefore, individuals must make a return appointment with the health department.
Although vaccine eligibility is now open to Georgians aged 16 and older, only individuals aged 18 and older will be able to be vaccinated during the clinic due to the use of Moderna vaccine. Pfizer is the only vaccine currently approved for teens aged 16 and 17 years old.
Individuals insured should bring a copy of their insurance card. There will be not out of pocket expense for anyone, even if the individual is uninsured. For more information on COVID-19 activity in South Georgia, visit www.southhealthdistrict.com/covid19.
