Infectious Disease Program

The South Health District Infectious Disease Program identifies, investigates, controls, and prevents the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Tuberculosis, Perinatal Hepatitis B, and HIV throughout the 10 counties of the South Health District. The Infectious Disease program coordinates the care and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Tuberculosis, Perinatal Hepatitis B, and HIV, provides support to the county health departments, and investigates reported infectious diseases to improve the overall health status of the community. The Infectious Disease Program provides oversight of the HOPWA and HIV Prevention programs.

Program activities include:

  • Investigation of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Tuberculosis, Perinatal Hepatitis B, and HIV
  • Provide Partner Notification Services for Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV
  • Provide Guidance to Healthcare Professionals, Facilities, and Other Community Agencies
  • Provide HIV Primary Care Services
  • Surveillance to Detect and Identify Infectious Diseases
