Nashville – Summer vacation is winding down and back-to-school shopping has commenced. Berrien County Health Department encourages parents/guardians to ensure their children have their needed back-to-school screenings and immunizations now.
“We are transitioning to electronic medical records this year,” states Dana Watson, county nurse manager. “We will be closed August 8-11 which is the first week of school. We want to ensure everyone in the community has access to our services, so we’re encouraging you to bring your kids now.”
Students entering a Georgia school for the first time must have a Certificate of Eye, Ear, Dental, and Nutrition Examination (Form 3300), and their up-to-date shot record on a Georgia Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231).
Appointments are not needed for back-to-school services; however, they are encouraged per Watson. To make an appointment call Berrien County Health Department at 686-5411. They are open Monday – Friday, with limited hours on Fridays. For a full list of services, visit www.southhealthdistrict.com/berrien.
