Baby LUV/PAT GA Strong Families Healthy Start

Baby LUV (Lowndes Unique Victories) was created in 2008 as an intervention to reduce Infant Mortality rates within the Lowndes County community with the help of a grant from the Georgia Chapter of March of Dimes. The mission of the Baby LUV/PAT GA Strong Families Healthy Start program is to prevent premature births and infant deaths by providing education and case management to high risk pregnant women. The evidenced based home visiting program utilizes the Parents as Teachers Curriculum to guide structured and evidenced-based home visits

The evidence based home visiting curriculum focuses on:

  • Prenatal care
  • Parent-child interaction
  • Family well being
  • Developmental-centered parenting
  • Conducting assessments and infant/child health screenings

With this curriculum, the mom and child are enrolled in the program until the child reaches 3 years of age. The focus is on milestone development and school readiness.

Baby LUV/PAT GA Strong Families Healthy Start serves pregnant mothers and post-partum mothers with children up to the age of 3 years old in Lowndes, Brooks, and Echols Counties

Baby LUV/PAT GA Strong Families Healthy Start provides monthly Group Connections and linkage to resources including WIC, Children First, immunizations, and other community resources.

Baby LUV/PAT GA Strong Families Healthy Start  also has a fatherhood component, providing weekly sessions utilizing the 24/7 Dads Curriculum just for the Fathers of the enrolled mothers in the program
