Drive Thru and Prevent the Flu

Tift Health Department to Host Drive-Thru Flu Clinic

TIFTON – Flu season is just around the corner, and the Tift County Health Department is making it easier than ever to protect yourself without leaving your car. A drive-thru flu clinic will be held on Friday, October 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Tift County Health Department, located at 305 East 12th Street in Tifton.

The drive-thru clinic is open to anyone 18 years and older and provides a fast, convenient way to get vaccinated. Both regular flu shots (for all ages) and high-dose vaccines (for adults 65 and older) will be available.

“We’re making it as easy as possible for our community to stay protected this flu season,” said Mecca Lewis, RN, Tift County Nurse Manager. “Our drive-thru clinic gives residents a quick, convenient way to get vaccinated and help keep themselves, their loved ones, and our community healthy.”

If you have insurance coverage, please bring your insurance card so that our staff can process your insurance. Insurance will be billed for those with accepted providers, and costs may vary depending on coverage. For details on accepted insurance and pricing, call the health department directly. Self-pay options are also available: $46.93 for the regular flu vaccine and $121.92 for the high-dose vaccine.

In addition to the drive-thru flu clinic, Tift County Health Department also offers in-clinic flu shots for everyone 6 months and older during regular business hours.

Flu season in the U.S. typically begins in the fall and peaks between December and February. Getting vaccinated early is the best way to protect yourself and those around you before flu activity reaches its highest levels.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a flu vaccine each year. Vaccination is particularly important for those at higher risk of complications, including young children, pregnant women, adults 65 and older, and individuals with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease.

Most insurance plans are accepted, including Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Coventry, United Healthcare, Medicaid (PeachState, AmeriGroup, CareSource, PeachCare), and Medicare. Bring your insurance card to your appointment. Self-pay options are also available.
