Infectious Disease Program

The Infectious Disease (ID) Program provides follow-up for individuals who have a communicable disease such as tuberculosis, meningitis, hepatitis, or one of many other communicable diseases. Contact investigation is included.

South Health District’s ID Program consists of the Tuberculosis (TB) Program, Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Program and the HIV/AIDS Program. The ID Program is also responsible for handling Hepatitis A, B and C cases for the district. For more information on Hepatitis visit http://dph.georgia.gov/viral-hepatitis.

Along with the Georgia Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program, the ID Program encourages that all infants be vaccinated for Hepatitis B to ensure infants born to Hep B positive mothers are not infected. For more information visit http://dph.georgia.gov/perinatal-hepatitis-b.
